Polycythemia Vera

Polycythemia Vera (PV) OUT OF CONTROL

Polycythemia Vera

Postby mcgrewd » Wed Apr 22, 2009 5:27 pm

A few days ago my VA doctor noticed that my hct was high. It was above the high mark on his graph. So, he told me that I have polycythemia. He said that he wanted to have some more tests done. I told him okay. He signed me up for a bone marrow test. That is going to happen sometime in the future.

If anyone has had the bone marrow test done, please let me know about your experience with it.

In the meantime, I have some questions:
1. Is there a diet for people with PV???
2. The US National Institute of Health says that PV is not hereditary, but everybody on the PV boards says that it is. What is the TRUTH???
a. My great granddad had PV.
